Growing up in an Italian family, holiday get togethers were always a big deal. We always went over to  family's house for dinner and stayed into the wee hours of the morning. Other then being with family, one of the best parts was the food. Because of watching and learning how to cook Italian foods when I was a younger, now I can bring them into my home for my own family as well.

One of the keys to being able to cook excellent Italian food is the olive oil you use. All olive oil is not the same. If it is cheaply made, it will still stick and not cook correctly. You also want an oil that have a delicate flavor as well. I remember sampling olive oils with my mom when I was younger in a store once. They poured the oils into a small bowl and let us try them with bread and herbs. Those were some of the best oils I had ever had!

Recently I found the company Flavor Your Life and sampled their 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Flavor Your Life is on a mission to education North America about their authentic extra virgin olive oil from Italy. They love teaching people all about their oils and the properties of them. Their olive oil has been harvested in Europe for generations so it's tried and true. And believe me, Italians know a good olive oil from a bad one!

When I first opened the bottle and tried it, I knew it was an amazing oil! The oil itself was made in Italy and is a cold pressed olive oil. Extra Virgin Olive Oil has a high smoking point of 400 degrees so it's perfect for a rub for meats too.

For Christmas, I made my turkey with my traditional olive oil rub and it was a huge hit! Here's my recipe if you would like to try!

Traditional Italian Turkey Rub

Drizzle 100% Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil liberally over the top and sides of turkey. Generously rub into skin. Sprinkle garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, cayenne powder and rosemary into the oiled skin and gently rub. Place turkey into oven and pour 1 cup of water into the bottom of the turkey pan to prevent burning. Cook according to weight of turkey on 325 degrees.

Overall my entire family was impressed with the oil and the flavor it gave to our foods. Our only complaint is that the bottle has been used entirely now! It's one of the best tasting olive oils I have tasted in a very long time and I plan to find it in a store near where I live.

Currently you can buy this amazing olive oil for $19.99 which is a small price to pay for great oil. Make sure to check out the Flavor Your Life site to see what retailers carry it near you.
