Five healthy recipes you should try

In recent years, there's been a move to ensure that people are eating a lot healthier. Many people have turned to vegetarian or even vegan diets to accomplish this. Even if you aren't going meat-free, there are many excellent recipes that you can get into the habit of making to have a healthier lifestyle.

Breakfast - it's the most important meal!

Let's start with breakfast. You may not have liked it as a kid, but granola is one of the best ways to kickstart a day as it provides fiber and is filling. However, it can be bland, and this is where the fun begins. You can spruce up your morning in a myriad of ways such as adding seeds and nuts.

Alternatively, you can throw in some fruit - fresh or dried - it doesn't matter. Berries are exceptionally good particularly blueberries as they contain much-needed antioxidants as well as having high potassium and calcium C content, both of which are great for preventing heart disease. If you're looking for further supplements, check out levelupnutrition.com at breakfast too, helping you get your day off right.

Midday Munchies

For lunchtime, there are plenty of options. Though it may often sound unhealthy, a grilled cheese sandwich coupled with a bowl of homemade tomato soup is one of the best lunches you can grab. If you don't throw a ton of oil on your sandwich nor throw in 17 types of cheese, this is also very healthy as well as filling.

Another great lunchtime option is making wraps. Wraps contain a lot less gluten than slabs of bread, so you're already winning. Our favorite involves grilling up a selection of veggies such as bell pepper, onion, mushroom and tomato, tossing in a little spinach or rocket and combining that into a delicious wrap topped off with your favorite low fat sauce or mayo!

Winding down

Dinner is where things can get a little out of hand - overeating is common here, so make sure you've got your portion control game in play. While pasta often gets touted as being unhealthy, that's not true. If you measure out your pasta, create a tomato sauce complete with fresh basil from scratch and add in a smattering of cheese, it's delicious.

An alternative is spicing up your chicken dinners. Chicken breast is also very healthy, but it can get boring. Liven up your chicken by making a chicken piccata complete with a coating of breadcrumbs, a delicious homemade creamy sauce and topped off with a drizzle of lemon making this filling, yet healthy. Don't overload the pan with oil when you fry!

Sneaky snacks

If you're a serial nibbler, we've got good news. There are snacks you can have that will fill that hole, meet those cravings and will keep you energized and healthy. One of the best snacks we can think of is avocado crispbreads. These snacks are quick to make and have that all-important avocado adding in just the right amount of potassium and magnesium.
