London, Baby! Planning the Ultimate Trip to England’s Capital

London is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and it’s because of this that so many people want to visit. It is so vast that if you include the areas surrounding its center (known as Greater London), it spans 70km. While it might not be the largest city in the world, it’s certainly big enough to house plenty of amazing attractions, restaurants, galleries, and museums for visitors to explore. If you’re planning a trip to London soon, here are some amazing things you need to include on your tourist ‘to-do’ list.

The Tower of London

A lot of people like to flock to Buckingham Palace during their time in London, and while that is something worth doing, make sure you take a visit to the Tower of London, too. An amazing historical site, this tower is perfect for history buffs and culture vultures alike. Take a tour of the tower and marvel at the Crown Jewels. You might even see Anne Boleyn’s ghost! There’s also plenty of things to do with the kids here, making it an ideal stop for families.

Fine Dining

The city boasts a wide range of incredible restaurants like jikonilondon.com and other top-quality eateries. If you’re into your food this will be something you can’t miss! However, don’t worry if you’re traveling on a budget, there are hundreds of wonderful foodie spots like the famous Borough Market, Berwick Street Market, and Boxpark Shoreditch.

See the City by Boat

Fancy taking a load off for a little while? If you want to take a break from all that walking and riding the tube, why not sit back and relax and take a river bus? Sail along the River Thames to your next destination and take in the cityscape and fresh air as your glide along the water.

You can use your Oyster Card to travel on these modes as well as normal buses and the tube, so it's perfect for those looking for minimum fuss. Hop on and off however many times you like! There are also official river tours if you’re looking to hear about the sites you’re seeing, rather than just getting from A to B.

See a Show

London has a fantastic theater scene and it would be a waste if you didn’t see at least one show while you’re there. There are hundreds of shows available, from musicals to dramas to comedies! If you’re into Shakespeare, seeing a show at the Globe Theatre is an absolute must too. It’s better to visit this theater on a sunny day, but if you’re sitting in one of the galleries you should have enough shelter in case of a bit of rain.

Visit Kew Gardens

If you feel like taking a break from the hustle and bustle of central London, take the train out to Richmond and visit the stunning Kew Gardens. These botanical gardens are the perfect escape from the rush of the city and are a great spot to take a picnic and wander around peacefully for a day.

There are countless things to do and see in London, and you might not be able to fit everything in during your trip – but make sure to do at least one of these things!
