My Duck Wears Diapers...Why Couldn't I? #underwareness

Growing up, there were always taboo subjects in my house. The birds and the bees, personal feelings about things, women problems, etc. If it was embarrassing, it usually wasn't discussed. And that normally meant that it wasn't dealt with correctly.

One of those subjects was bladder leakage. I remember as a teenager my family went to Universal Studios in Orlando. While we were walking into the front entrance of the theme park, my aunt told a joke and made my mom laugh. For some reason it really hit my mom hard because she laughed so hard that she peed herself right there in the middle of the entrance. Then out of embarrassment she dropped down on the ground and covered her head as she continued to laugh. To this day I remember that but I also remember that my mom never tried to deal with the problem.

After having Mary, I too started to have bladder leakage. I'm not sure if it has something to do with birthing a child but I would wake up in the middle of the night to see that I had completely wet the bed, mattress and all. It was horribly embarrassing especially since my husband and I had only been married for a little over a year. But I dealt with the situation until I finally got control over my body again.

I'm here to tell you that bladder leakage is something that should be discussed. Did you know that more women in their 20's have bladder control problems than women in their 80's? And sometimes it can be an underlying problem causing it.

Depend is for people of all ages and bladder leakage is a condition that affects millions of people. They provide discreet products that help people regain their freedom and get their lives back. And Depend brand has newly introduced Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs, a new moderate-absorbency brief featuring a thin design for complete comfort and the trusted protection of the Depend brand. Depend Silhouette Active Fit briefs have a lower rise for an underwear-like look, fit and feel. As a category first, the product is available in black and beige colors.

Although I don't have bladder control problems anymore, I used to and I am not ashamed to say that I used products like this to help. There is no shame in dealing with a problem!

Depend is entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of Underwareness, the Depend brand is encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness and featuring Depend products, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage.

If you have bladder leakage or if you just want to help support the cause, I highly suggest you check out Underwareness to find out more information and also sign up for a free sample.

I personally believe that no one should be ashamed to wear Depends Briefs if they need to. If my duck can wear diapers, then you can wear Depends briefs too!
