If you couldn't tell, our dog Charlie is very lazy. And it doesn't really matter what the weather is. He pretty much likes to sleep no matter what. But when winter comes around, it's going to get a lot worse. So to help him still get the exercise he needs to keep him strong and healthy, here are a few tips that we use to keep him still on his toes!
  1. Take a Walk on Warmer Days - Before the weather gets frigid, it's always nice to talk a nice walk with your pets. If your dog has short hair though like Charlie, make sure he wears a sweater or a coat to protect him from getting sick.
  2. Make Mealtime More Fun -  Sometimes Charlie gets a bit lazy, even at mealtime. So we started using a meal toy for him. We simply put in his Nutrience food and let him work for it. We don't do this daily but when we do, he seems to eat better.
  3. Play Indoor Games - Charlie loves a good game of chase so in the winter, Mary chases him throughout the house. You can also play hide and go seek and fetch too if that's what your dog likes!
  4. Enroll in an Agility Class - Many places offer indoor agility classes for dogs in the winter. Not only is this fun for the dogs but they also get so good at it that they could compete!
  5. Head Over to a Pet Store - A lot of pet stores let pets come in. This is a great way for your dog to be active while walking with you to pick new things for him!
A few months back we started Charlie on Nutrience grain free dog food and believe it or not, he's still making his way through the bag! Since he's a small dog and we got a 50lb bag, I think it will last a while! Right now it's available on Amazon.com which is very convenient, especially in the winter. If you don't feel like braving the cold, it can be delivered to your door!

Since having Charlie eat Nutrience, he really has enjoyed it. He's had a lot more energy to him and does like to be active, at least when it's warmer! What we really love about the food is that Nutrience has a "no bad anything" promise plus fruits, vegetables and botanicals are harvested at their peak combined with top of the line meat and fish protein. So you can feel safe feeding this to your dog.
