I think everyone goes through that stage of life where they want to drive a two-seater car. I learned to drive on my mom's BMW SUV and then when I got my licence, I got my own key to it to drive. So I always drove that to school. I also learned to drive on my dad's Ram pickup truck so it's needless to say that I was used to larger cars.
When my grandparents bought me my first car when I was seventeen, it was a Ford Fusion which was a four door car so honestly, I had never been in or driven a two-seater car in my entire life. But when I was given the chance to see what the 2014 Mazda MX-5 Convertible could do, I had to say I was indeed curious.
When I first got the MX-5, I noticed that it really does sit low to the ground. I'm not really used to sitting so low but after a while, I got adjusted. The gears and buttons are all the same like in other Mazdas but in the MX-5, you can actually change gears from the steering wheel too if you want to make it into a manual. I don't know how to drive a manual car, but I can see how this would be fun for guys.
There's also a button to push to release your gas cap too which is in between the two front seats on the back wall of the car. It's actually hidden in a compartment which is nice so you know no one is going to try and steal your gas!
To put the top down is actually quite easy too. It's all activated by one button in the front of the car. You simply push the button and hold it until the entire top comes down and you hear a beep. Then you can let go and the car is ready to drive. Putting the top up is just as easy too. You just push a different button and hold it down.
I didn't think that I would have a lot of trunk space considering how small the car really is but I was able to get about half a grocery cat full in the trunk which was pretty good!
Overall the MX-5 drives a definite sports car. You can feel the road when you're driving and it has great speed to it. It really is a fun little car to drive, especially if you have the color red like mine was!
