What's the Secret in McDonalds #WorldFamousFries ?

The Greater Atlanta McDonald’s Operators Association (GAMOA) partnered with bloggers such as me to help educate us all about McDonald’s products and offerings. As part of this program, I received compensation for my time. They did not tell me what to purchase or what to say about the use of the product. GAMOA believes that consumers and bloggers are free to form their own opinions and share them in their own words. GAMOA policies align with WOMMA Ethics Code, FTC guidelines and social media engagement recommendations.
Ever since I was a kid, I always heard my mom asking my dad to pull into McDonald's for fries and a Coke. And out of all the places she could have done this, she did it only at McDonald's because their fries taste the best. After years  of hearing my mom say this, I started to wonder what really does make McDonald's fries taste amazing? Here's some of the facts I've learned about them:

  • McDonald’s Fries are freshly-prepared and served hot within seven minutes after cooking.
  • McDonald’s French Fries are cooked in proprietary canola-blend cooking oil that has 0-grams of trans fat per labeled serving -- creating Fries that are crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
  • McDonald’s Fries are made from real potatoes, all of which must meet McDonald’s quality standards. McDonald’s works hand-in-hand with its French Fry suppliers to ensure stringent food quality and food safety standards are met from farm to processing. There are more than 120 quality and safety checks involved in making a McDonald’s French Fry.

And here I always just thought it was the salt that made them taste great when I was a kid!

I'm proud to say that I'm a McDonald's fries fan just like my mom was. Honestly, you could make me the happiest person in the world with a Big Mac, fries and a Dr. Pepper! And Mary loves McDonald's fries too, but she loves them best with a chocolate milkshake! And I don't mind giving Mary some fries because all potatoes are inspected prior to making McDonald’s Fries. Specialized technicians grade the products for size, shape, natural sugars and blemishes to ensure they meet quality standards. Plus McDonald’s crew members follow specific operational procedures for storing, handling, frying and salting McDonald’s Fries to give customers great-tasting French Fries.

So the next time you're craving fries, make sure to think of what to go with them! A Coke, Dr. Pepper, or maybe you like dipping your fries in a chocolate milkshake like Mary!
