Your Home Has Curb Appeal, But What's Missing?

Curb appeal is a sore spot for many home owners. We want our homes to look good both inside and out, but it’s the exterior of the property that presents more of a challenge. After all, it’s both harder to decorate and more easily seen by the neighbors. It’s these two factors put together that make curb appeal quite the big worry.

But here’s a bit of good news for you: your home does look good! If it’s clean and well kept, it has a good amount of curb appeal. However, there are a few more curb appeal elements you could add for an even better look. Here’s the few we recommend.

Variety!

It can make or break the curb appeal you’re going for, as the same elements over and over again blend together and make things feel a bit more boring. When there’s only a few plants, or there’s only one color of gravel on the ground, you lose a bit of the impact you’re after.

However, you don’t need to make big, dramatic changes to get this impact back.

Just add a few new things to the space to spice things up. Hanging baskets with different colored flowers in, for example, or different toned paving stones over the top of a gravel base.

Green Additions

You’ve got plenty of plantlife all round, with trees, bushes, flowers, and creeper vines climbing up the back of the house. Your back yard seems plenty green enough, why would you need more? To save on energy.

When considering your garden, back yard, front yard, and overall curb appeal, you should also think about energy efficiency and environmental impact.

You’ve done your part to attract more bugs and critters to the garden, and now you may want to think about the energy costs involved in running your home.

You wouldn’t be alone in wanting greener energy for yourself and your neighbors; SolarTech’s latest data on residential solar trends show the majority of homeowners are looking to get panels installed over the next few years.

And where we were once worried that solar energy tech would harm a property’s aesthetic appeal, results show it’s actually doing the opposite!

A Fresh Coat of Paint

Yes, it really could be something this simple. A fresh coat of paint gives your home a lighter and brighter face to look at, and certainly makes the siding or brick coating look a lot newer.

You’ll want to wash your home down first, to make sure you’re not baking grime into the new coat - which can also show up through the new paint layer over time.

Then, paint something a little more colorful on top, although you may want to stay in line with the general palette of the street you live on.

Curb appeal can often miss a trick. Make sure you’ve included these elements within your own for a fresher, bolder, and more natural look. And don’t forget about the value of renewable energy!
