Last week we had the opportunity to test drive the 2014 Ford Fusion for a week. And let me tell you, it's all new from what I remember. When this sporty hot rod pulled up in my driveway, I couldn't believe it! My first car was a 2007 Ford Fusion so I honestly hadn't seen the Fusion line since then. And now they look like fast paced muscle cars!
I loved the grill in the front of it too! I felt so stylish driving it; especially since it was red. Did you know that the rear inflatable seatbelts now available in 2014 Fusions make this the only car in the popular midsize segment to offer rear inflatable seatbelts? I think this is a great thing to have especially if you have kids!
The lane keeping system is also another amazing feature that I was able to witness. Using a small camera on the outside of the rear view mirror, it looks down on the road and makes sure you're in your lane. It will also alert the driver if it senses drowsiness or erratic behavior. Like for instance, I was in the Chick-Fil-A parking lot and got a little too close to the car in front of me. Of course I was just in line, but the car actually flashed bright red lights above the steering wheel and that definitely got my attention!
So my overall thoughts on the 2014 Ford Fusion? One of the safest cars I have ever driven, hands down. Would I buy it? Yes, in a heartbeat. As a previous owner of a Fusion, a Focus, and a Windstar, I am a Ford person and will always be because they are safe and reliable cars.
