Researching schools might sound like it’s particularly difficult, but it’s not. All you have to do is take some time out of your day to look at reports that have been made on the school, look at the authorities reports, look at what parents have had to say, see if any past students have any thoughts, and then look at what accreditations they have. You should not send your child anywhere you don’t have confidence in, because education is important.
Teach Them Basic Life Skills
You also need to make sure that they have all of the basic life skills they are going to need in order to see success in life. They need to be able to do a load of their own laundry properly, they need to be able to cook a meal even if it’s the most basic one possible, and they need to be able to manage money. As well as this, they are going to need to know how to clean things properly, including the knowledge that bleach loses its cleaning properties when it’s mixed with hot water which so many people don’t seem to know these days!

You need to show them that they are allowed to be confident, they are allowed to love who they are, and they are allowed to believe in themselves. So many parents these days are focused on raising obedient children, and they forget that your child needs to learn how to do things and to boost their confidence. They are going to make mistakes, and there are going to be times where you need to correct them, but then you need to let them try again. You can’t just tell them they’re not doing it right, then offer them no sort of guidance.
Confident kids are happier kids, and happier kids tend to excel better than those who are miserable and constantly second guessing themselves. It’s hard to raise confident kids in a world that constantly demands you are anyone other than who you are, but you can do it if you keep reminding them that you are in their corner, and that as long as they know who they are, that’s what’s important.

This one is kind of tied in with being confident - you need to teach your kids problem solving and decision making. They need to learn how to do this so that as they get older they know it’s okay to make decisions, they know that they know how to make the best choice for them, and more. It’s tough sometimes, and yes, there are going to be times where they make the wrong choice which may be hard for you to watch. However, there was a time that you made wrong choices, and you’re probably going to do so again in the future, it’s how we learn.
The best way to learn the right way is to first learn the wrong one, and while it’s hard, it’s just got to happen.
Show Up For Them

You need to be there for them, you need to be that emotional support for them, as well as the physical support. You need be there to pick up the pieces when things go wrong, and guide them where it’s necessary. Show up when they need you, the way that you would want the people that you love to show up for you.
