Helping Mary Learn French

As a Little Pim ambassador, I get to try out fun and new products from them every month. Last month we reviewed one of the French DVD's in the collection. This month, we got to review French Word and Phrase Cards. We've been using them during our home-school sessions and I'm very impressed at how well they're working for Mary already.

When I first introduced the cards to Mary, I let her look at all of them so she could get a feel for them. Once she studied them, she asked me to start telling her what they were. Since I learned French in school, I was actually excited to do this with her because I could finally use my knowledge of the language.

I read her each card once and then stood back and let her see if she was curious about learning more. And since she was, she started going through the house and finding the items shown on the cards.

This was Mary's favorite part as you can see. She was so proud when she found something on the card and when she did, we would repeat the word in English and in French.

So do these cards really work? I would have to say hands down yes! When I was in school, I learned best by flash cards and this is exactly the same. Once Mary remembers the phrases, she'll be able to look at the backside were there are only pictures and remember the phrase. And since she picks up on things quickly, I don't think it will take much time at all!
